composer of classical contemporary music for concert guitar and chamber ensemble.
Christof Vonderau started composing in the 1980s for his principal instrument, the classical guitar. Early inspirations were the music of Francis Poulenc and Johann-Sebastian Bach, which he played extensively in churches. Christof became aquainted with traditional music and crosscultural projects via the International Institute for Comparative Music Studies as well as the Meta Music Festival in Berlin. His compositions of New Contemporary Music have been performed in Europe and America. They reflect stylistic influences from the Renaissance and chamber music to improvisational and non-European music. The ethnographical contextualization as a dialogue and process of cognition became a central interest, which led him to independent compositional decisions. Beside his classical works, he has contributed original scores to several award-winning films. Christof Vonderau lives and works in Berlin.
